There’s a moment when you realize Hot Springs isn’t just a stop on the Appalachian Trail. It’s a town that takes its minerals seriously, and its hospitality even more so.

You can soak in a creekside bath at the old resort, then drive five minutes to a farm where you’ve rented the entire meadow. I’ve done both in the same weekend.

The range here goes from the classic, no-frills soak at Hot Springs Resort And Spa to the hand-built riverfront cabins at Creek Ridge, where the water practically sings you to sleep. So here’s the list.

Paint Rock Farm

Paint Rock Farm
Highlights
Rent the entire farm
Stunning mountain and river views
Exceptionally hospitable, hands-on staff
Spacious, well-maintained event barn
Private hiking route on-site

I rented the entire farm at Paint Rock Farm, and I have to say, the place does the work for you. The mountain and river views are the kind you stop talking over just to stare at. The staff is exceptionally hospitable, hands-on without hovering. The event barn is spacious and well-maintained, which matters if you are planning anything larger than a quiet weekend. There is a private hiking route on-site, so you do not have to drive anywhere to get into the woods. I left feeling like I had borrowed someone's better life for a few days. That is a good trade.

Iron Horse Station

Iron Horse Station
Highlights
Family-run inn and restaurant
Cozy, home-like atmosphere
Great food and hospitality
Thoughtful birthday surprise details
Guests become like family

Iron Horse Station is the kind of place where you walk in and immediately feel like you forgot to lock your own front door, in a good way. It is a family-run inn and restaurant, and the home-like atmosphere is not a marketing line. The food is solid, the hospitality is genuine, and the staff remembered it was my birthday without me making a scene about it. They added a small surprise to the evening that I did not expect. By the end of the stay, I was on a first-name basis with half the family. Guests become family here. I am not sure I have ever said that about a hotel before.

Hot Springs Treehouse Cabins

Hot Springs Treehouse Cabins
Highlights
Dog-friendly, impeccably clean
Thoughtful amenities throughout
Relaxing porch and hot tub
Close to downtown, private

Hot Springs Treehouse Cabins are dog-friendly and impeccably clean, which is a rare combination in my experience. The amenities are thoughtful throughout, from the little extras in the kitchen to the way the porch is set up for sitting and doing nothing. The hot tub is right there, and the privacy is real, even though downtown is close. I took my dog, and she approved of the whole operation. The bed was comfortable, the cabin was quiet, and I did not once feel like I was camping. I would call it a treehouse, but it is more like a small house with a better view. I have no complaints.

Windows & Weddings Over Waterfalls

Windows & Weddings Over Waterfalls
Highlights
Private waterfalls and landscaping
Easy to challenging trails
Stocked kitchen and cookware
Hot tub and cozy amenities
Dog-friendly touches and gifts

Windows & Weddings Over Waterfalls is a name that sounds like a lot, but the place delivers. There are private waterfalls on the property, and the landscaping around them is intentional and pretty. The trails range from easy to challenging, so I could pick my mood. The kitchen is stocked with cookware and basics, which saved me from eating out every meal. The hot tub and cozy touches made the evenings easy. They even left dog-friendly gifts, which my dog appreciated more than I did. It is a little out of the way, but that is the point. I would go back for the waterfalls alone.

Broadwing Farm Cabins sits on a stunning property with a lake that I could have stared at for hours. The mineral tubs are the main event, and they are worth the hype. I soaked while looking at the mountains, and I felt my shoulders drop about two inches. The owners are kind and welcoming without being intrusive. The cabin itself is perfectly set up, with everything I needed and nothing I did not. The peace here is real, not the kind you have to manufacture. I drove away slower than I arrived. That is the best review I can give.

Hot Springs Log Cabins are dog-friendly, and the fenced porches are a genius touch. My dog could roam without me worrying, and I could sit in the hot tub without her joining me. Every cabin has a hot tub, which is a strong selling point. The views are private forest and mountains, and the Appalachian Trail is close enough that I could hike in the morning and be back for lunch. There are peaceful meadows where the pups can run, and mine did. The cabins are comfortable, the setting is quiet, and the whole place feels like it was designed for people who like their dogs more than most people. I fit right in.

Creek Ridge Camping Cabins

Creek Ridge Camping Cabins
Highlights
Hand-built cabins, riverfront sites
Friendly, accommodating family staff
Spacious sites, relaxing creek access
Unique stays near Hot Springs

Creek Ridge Camping Cabins are hand-built, and you can tell. There is a character to them that prefab units do not have. The riverfront sites are spacious, and the creek access is relaxing in a way that is hard to explain until you sit there. The family staff is friendly and accommodating, and they seem to genuinely want you to have a good time. The cabins are unique, not cookie-cutter, and they sit close enough to Hot Springs that you can get into town without a production. I stayed in one of the riverfront spots and listened to the water all night. I slept better than I have in months.

Comfortable beds and porches

Bailey Hot Springs is walkable to town, which is a huge plus. The place is dog-friendly, and they left a fluffy bed for my dog, which she immediately claimed. The thoughtful touches are everywhere, from the kitchen supplies to the little notes. The beds are comfortable, and the porches are made for sitting with coffee. It is peaceful without being isolated, and I could walk to the restaurants and shops whenever I wanted. The kitchen is fully stocked, so I cooked a few meals and felt like I was actually living there. It is a small place, but it does everything right. I have no notes.

The management team is friendly and attentive, and they checked in without being annoying. It is not a fancy place, but it does not need to be. The comfort comes from the people and the setting. Highlights
Walkable to downtown Hot Springs
Spotless cabins with thoughtful amenities
Peaceful garden and covered porch

Easy parking and responsive host

Little Bird Vacation Cabin Rentals are spotless, and I mean that in the way that makes you look twice. The cabins are walkable to downtown Hot Springs, so I could leave the car alone. The peaceful garden and covered porch are perfect for reading or doing nothing. The host provided a local activity guide that was actually useful, not just a list of ads. Parking is easy, and the host is responsive if you need anything. The amenities are thoughtful, from the coffee setup to the extra blankets. It is a small operation, but it is run with care. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Phenomenal mountain views from lift

Magical nighttime holiday atmosphere
Astra Illumina worth the extra cost

Anakeesta is a different kind of thing to do in Hot Springs, and I mean that as a compliment. I went on a weekday, and the wait times were minimal, which is the only way to do it. The lift ride up gives you phenomenal mountain views, and the top is full of shops, cafes, and restaurants. The nighttime holiday atmosphere is magical, and I am not usually one for that kind of thing. The Astra Illumina show costs extra, but it is worth it. The lights and music are well done, and the whole place feels festive without being cheesy. I left with a full stomach and a good mood.

Hot Springs Resort And Spa

Hot Springs Resort And Spa
Highlights
Mineral baths by creek

Hot Springs Resort And Spa is the classic option, and it is classic for a reason. The mineral baths sit right by the creek, and soaking in them while listening to the water is a simple pleasure. The water is warm, the setting is peaceful, and the whole experience is low-key. I did not need anything fancy, and this place did not try to be fancy. It just worked. The staff was fine, the facilities were clean, and the price was reasonable. I soaked, I relaxed, and I left. That is all I needed from it.
