Oak Ridge has never been a pizza town, but that is changing. You can start at A Dopo for a wood-fired sourdough crust and house-made mozzarella, then drive ten minutes to Big Ed’s for a foldable slice that tastes like 1969.

I have eaten my way through all of them—from the garlic knots at Dazzo's to the surprisingly solid buffet slice at Pizza Inn. This list covers the full spread, including a hibachi place that makes a better pie than most actual pizzerias.

One caveat: your jeans will not forgive you. Here is where to eat, ranked.

Dean's Restaurant & Bakery feels like a step back to a time when food was made with care. I stopped by for lunch and left with a full stomach and a box for later. The orange sweet tea is the standout—sweet without being syrupy. The pot roast was tender, and the daily specials change but always feel homemade. The staff knew the menu inside and out, and they were happy to offer suggestions. If you want a solid, comforting meal in Oak Ridge, this is a good bet. I will be back for the desserts.

High-quality pizza with Italian flour

Hibachi Pizza of Oliver Springs is an unexpected mix, but it works. The hibachi chicken was fresh and cooked right at the grill, and the pizza had a thin, crispy crust that held up under the cheese. The yum yum sauce is the best I have had—creamy with a little kick. The service was quick, and the food came out hot. I ordered a side of their garlic knots, which were soft and buttery. It is a casual spot, but the quality is serious. Worth a drive.

Dazzo's Pizzeria in West Oak Ridge has a loyal following, and I get it. The pizza is on the thinner side, but it is substantial enough to satisfy. The Cheezy Wheezy is a standout—loaded with cheese but not greasy. The owners are friendly and take pride in what they serve. The garlic knots are perfectly cooked, with a nice crunch. It is a no-frills place, but the quality speaks for itself. I had a slice and a salad, and both were above average. This is a solid neighborhood spot.

A Dopo Sourdough Pizza is a different kind of pizza place. The sourdough crust is chewy and has a slight tang that pairs well with the toppings. I ordered online for pickup, and the process was smooth. The pizza was ready on time, and the aroma hit me as soon as I opened the box. The house-made mozzarella is creamy, and their vanilla ice cream is a nice finish. The staff recommended a reservation on weekends, and I can see why. It is a bit more upscale, but worth it.

Sergeant Pepperoni's Pizzeria in Bearden is a laid-back spot that does not try too hard. The toppings are balanced—not too heavy, not too sparse. The crust is thin, but it holds up well. The staff is friendly and seemed genuinely happy to help. I tried their house salad, which was fresh, and a slice of pepperoni. The prices are fair for the quality. The beer selection is nice, with a few local options. It is a good place to unwind after work. I would come back.

The dough was well-seasoned, which made a difference. The kids' meal portions were generous—my son could not finish his. The staff was welcoming and patient with my questions. The fried pickles were a tasty appetizer, and they were good even without ranch. A solid choice for a family meal.

Big Ed's Pizza has been around for 56 years, and that says something. The style is old-school New York—thin, foldable, and loaded with flavor. The wait was a bit long, but it was worth it. The ingredients taste fresh, and the crust has a nice char. The atmosphere is quirky and historic, with photos and memorabilia on the walls. It feels like a piece of Oak Ridge history. If you have time to wait, you will be rewarded. I left satisfied and a little nostalgic.

Little Nicky's New York Pizza is the closest thing to a real New York slice I have found in Tennessee. The crust is thin and crispy, with just the right amount of chew. The sauce is tangy, and the cheese is generous. The staff is friendly and made me feel at home. I also tried their cheesecake, which was creamy and rich. Fire & Salt is a unique dining experience. The Chef's Table concept lets you watch the cooks work, and the staff is exceptional—attentive without being intrusive. The menu is creative, and each dish is a surprise. The wood-fired pizza was excellent, with a smoky crust that you cannot get from a regular oven. The drinks are well-crafted, and the wine list is solid. It is a bit pricier, but the experience is worth it. I felt like I was part of something special. A memorable evening.

Pizza Inn on the Turnpike is a straightforward stop, and I mean that as a compliment. The buffet was hot and well-stocked when I walked in around noon. The pepperoni pizza had a crisp edge and a decent amount of cheese. Nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. I also tried the salad bar, which was fresh enough.
