Happy hour in Morristown is a surprisingly competitive sport. You can chase a proper cheesesteak at a bar where the TVs all face the right way, or you can find yourself across the table from a plate of sesame chicken that arrives looking like it was plated for a magazine shoot.

The local spread runs from an actual medical clinic to a place serving the best crabcakes in Tennessee, which means your definition of "after-work relief" might need some flexibility. The peppermint mocha at 60 Beans is worth the detour if you're skipping the beer.

Good luck out there, and pace yourself.

Good Ole Days Sports Grille is exactly what you want from a neighborhood sports bar. The cheesesteak is worth coming back for—meat, cheese, and bread in proper proportion. I also tried the fried bologna, thick-cut and crispy at the edges; it's a simple pleasure done right. The Taylor tots arrive with a satisfying crunch, and every television is tuned to something watchable. Service stayed attentive without hovering, and the prices felt more than fair for the portions. It isn't fancy, but it doesn't try to be. For a casual bite with a game on, this place delivers. I'd happily sit at the bar again.

Dick's Last Resort in Gatlinburg is not for the easily offended. The waiter, Ryan, was extraordinary—quick, sharp, and completely committed to the insult-based shtick. He had our table laughing the entire time, even as he delivered our food with a sarcastic comment. The food itself was surprisingly delicious, despite the paper hats and the constant ribbing. It's chaotic, loud, and genuinely funny. The service is intentionally rude, but in a way that feels like a performance rather than actual hostility. If you want a meal that doubles as a comedy show, this is your place. Worth returning for the chaos alone.
